The Christian life!

Hebrews 13 is all about the life of a Christian here on planet earth.

My inside job for this week is to love, lean, learn and live a better Christian life! To be Christlike and bear his cross with him.

Hebrews 13:1-17…. read it please.

Let me break it down for ya….

The first four verses, it’s all about Love!
VS: 1 Love your brothers
VS: 2 Love the stranger
VS: 3 Love the prisoner
VS: 4 Love your mate

That’s a lot of Love!!!

VS: 5a Lean without covetousness
VS: 5b Lean Contentedly
VS: 5c-6 Lean Confidently

GOD'S COMMITMENT TO ME - "...for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."

MY CONDUCT FOR GOD - "Let you conversation be without covetousness; and content with such things as ye have..."

MY CONFIDENCE FROM GOD - "So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me."

Singing
“Lean on me, cause your not strong! And I’ll be your friend….”

Okay, so I’ll stop singing. My point though is lean on God…he won’t leave you!

Lets keep going to verses 7 –9. These verses are for our learning.

VS: 7 Learn from Godly leaders
VS: 8 Learn from the Lord Jesus Christ
VS: 9 Learn to avoid false teaching

VALUE YOUR LEADERS! Here’s the 5 ‘R’s of leadership.

REMEMBER - "Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God:"

REPEAT - "...whose faith follow,"
If you follow the example of a leader's faith, you will do what they did. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

REFLECT - "...considering the end of their conversation."

RESPECT - "Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves:"

RESPONSIBILITY - "...for they watch for your souls,"

REPORT - "...as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you."

Finally, live like there’s no tomorrow!

VS: 10-14 live a separated life
VS: 15-16 live a sacrificial life
VS: 17 live a submissive life

God puts no merit in any attempts to earn His favor or call attention to one. But He delights in deeds that spring from faith that works through love (Gal. 5:6). They are spiritual sacrifices that come from giving ourselves completely to Him (Rom. 12:1-2). He is pleased when we continually give thanks in Jesus' name, do good, and share with others (Heb. 13:15-16).

Some spiritual sacrifices will be costly. But what is gained--His praise--is always greater than what is given up. –DJD

Do you earnestly and truly want to live a Christian life, to love, live, learn and lean on God? I speak not only to saints, but also to sinners. Do you want to be right with God? Do you want to be pleasing to God? Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Jesus! “Must Jesus bear the cross alone and all the world go free? No, there’s a cross for everyone, and there’s a cross for me!”
